On Lake Titicaca

An early start this morning so we could spend most of the day on the lake.
We first visited the floating man-made reed islands of Uros. People have been making these islands for millennia and traditional communities still make a living there from fishing, handicrafts and tourism. The main concession to modern life is that they now have solar panels and limited electricity.
We took a half hour ride on a reed boat and spent a little time exploring.
After the floating islands we travelled further out onto the lake to the island of Tequelle. This felt like a small Greek island.
The island was home to another traditional community famed for their weaving.
We had a wonderful lunch of fish and were treated to some folk dancing.
