The camp site was in a high valley between the mountains. Day 2 was the shortest walk of the trek but did require more climbing up the knee-jarring stone steps.
The first stage of the hike was walking up to the second pass and then descending a little to our lunch spot.
After another hearty lunch, the afternoon hike was a short ascent to the third pass at 3670 metres above sea-level. Although this was lower than Dead Woman Pass (4215 metres) the views were more spectacular.
Despite seeming quite exposed, this pass was our third campsite. A wet mist/cloud would periodically obscure either the view of the whole camp. But as night fell the skies cleared and we had stunning views first of Jupiter and then more and more stars.
Cold but we'll worth it.
